Ruby is two weeks old today. Her hair has gone from neatly coiffed uptown to shaggy hip downtown. We took a walk on the Lower East Side today and she wanted to stop in all the vintage shops (and, like most kids who end up in that neighborhood on a Friday, she barfed on the street and we had to carry her home). Thanksgiving was excellent. We’re all much fatter, except for Mass who is burning ten thousand calories a day.

From my favorite Mexican place in the city, these simple avocado nachos aren’t the cheesiest, but they’re pretty great, and strangely hot. They get soggy upon delivery, but that’s true of any nacho. Sit in the tiny dining room and eat them. You will be happy.

Nachos don’t photograph well with the iPhone, especially under streetlight (see below. Gross). But these were delicious. The stuff on top was lumped on and compartmentalized, and there wasn’t an abundance of cheese, which are both qualities that can diminish the nacho, in my opinion. But considering that, and while these were difficult to eat - knife and fork were necessary - these nachos more than stood up to my incredibly low standards. The mouthfeel was nacho-y. In 500 years, when London has fully adapted to the pleasures of Mexican food, I assume the beans will be more evenly distributed. They’ll do for now.
